In 2009, I got a taste of what it was like to be recognized as a travel photographer. I received a merit prize through National Geographic Traveler, and was published in their magazine. My print was put on display at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City. For a small town girl, that was huge. That photograph now hangs in my bedroom, reminding me every single day that nothing is impossible.
